Your team has never had a designer before, so you need someone to act as a design lead, working directly with engineers and product managers. These are some of my favorite projects, as I’ve been all three of these roles previously - which is pretty unique for a designer! I can flex between these roles as needed as well. I am experienced in helping teams learn how to work with designers, building that muscle of user empathy.
Your team recognizes their need for product design work, but doesn’t quite have enough work to warrant a full-time design hire. I will fill that role until you are ready to hire full-time, with flexible billing as your product design needs change, then help you find the right person to hire when the time comes, and transitions the work smoothly over as your company scales up.
Your team needs someone to work closely with your team, learning the intricacies of a very technical product or a complicated market - not just create mocks in a vacuum and disappear! Because I only work on a couple selective projects at a time, it will always be me in meetings - not a project manager, and I am able to deliver comprehensive work for each of my clients - not just one of deliverables.
I learn about your company, product, and design needs, and share how I work and answer any questions you have. Through these discovery meetings, I’m able to tailor my solution and offerings to your unique needs.
We’ll sign some paperwork to make it official. I bill an hourly rate with no minimum or maximum number of hours, so you have flexibility as your design needs evolve.
I take time to understand your company as well as you do, working closely with your team. A typical engagement lasts 2-6 months, working with your team for 10-20 hours a week.
